Marble
While searching for materials, we came across a factory producing marble for flooring and architectural applications.
Marble has long been used as a building material because it is relatively easy to shape and develops a beautiful surface when polished. At this factory, however, large piles of marble were left behind after breaking during the cutting process, making them unsuitable for architectural use.
The patterns formed over time by natural processes are never the same. Every piece carries its own distinctive character. The rich veining, subtle variations and smooth surface give marble a beauty that feels both refined and unexpectedly warm.
Rather than subjecting it to extensive processing, we wondered if these discarded pieces could be reused by embracing the material's natural qualities.
